Renewal of vows

A renewal of vows ceremony provides the opportunity for couples who are already married or in a civil partnership, to celebrate and renew vows in a unique and personal way.

For some, the opportunity to say “I love you” and “I do” all over again with family and friends is a good reason to have a renewal of vows ceremony. For others, special anniversaries, such as 10, 25, 40 and 50 years are often popular.

Some couples, having married abroad, choose to have a renewal of vows ceremony on their return to this country.

We will work closely with you to create a fitting celebration.

Venues

A renewal of vows ceremony can be held anywhere subject to risk assessment approval.

Planning the ceremony

Any couple who are in a marriage or civil partnership can have a renewal of vows ceremony.

We will work closely with you to create a meaningful ceremony that is special for you and your family.

Here is a suggested structure for a ceremony to allow you to create something personal and very special:

  • introduction and welcome
  • mention of any children/family members
  • readings of poetry or similar
  • choice of music
  • renewal of vows/making of promises
  • exchange of new rings or re-dedication of original rings
  • presentation of a certificate
  • closing words.

You may also include a short religious reading if you wish.
